Eastern Shore Guide Service hunts occur on hundreds of acres of prime leased fields and as well as rivers and Bays of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. With farms spreading into more than two counties we are always able to put you where the birds are, shooting over custom decoy spreads specifically for your hunt. These decoy spreads will be set to highlight the art of decoying ducks and geese close to the hunters for select shooting. Your decoy spread will be chosen to capitalize on the elements of the hunt and may consist of Final Approach and Real Geese silhouettes. Our blinds consist of warm custom pits, layout binds, upright field and shore blinds or hunt from an offshore floating “booby” blind for the changing conditions as no two days are the same. Trained and well-mannered retrievers will also be provided unless you would like to bring yours.
You will meet your guide at a predetermined location the morning of your hunt, approximately an hour before legal shooting time. This will allow everyone to briefly introduce themselves, ensure everyone has the correct hunting licenses and discuss the morning’s hunt expectations before following your guide to the hunting area.
After introductions, you will follow your guide to a nearby farm or boat ramp where your group will meet and make the final adjustments before leaving their vehicles. When everyone is prepared your guide will explain several safety rules to ensure your experience is safe and memorable. If hunting from shore, the decoys will already be placed as needed to ensure select shooting when you arrive at the blind(s). When hunting from a floating blind the decoys will then be strategically positioned once you have reached the hunting location before the first flights.
Throughout the morning between the many shooting opportunities, you will see thousands of birds and enjoy the camaraderie of your friends and guide. By mid-morning the majority of hunts will be limited out. However, if this is not the case your hunt will continue until 12:00 p.m. allowing the birds to re-enter the fields and resting areas. Once your hunt ends successfully, you will be given ample time to take photographs as desired with your group and guide to capture the memory of a lifetime.
